A 94-year-old man reunites with the woman he fell in love with 65 years ago; the two are now married.

Someone once said that real love always comes back. Even though life is hard at times, soulmates always find their way back to each other, even if they don’t end up together at first. Luckily, after more than 60 years apart, this couple got back together and showed that true love knows no limits.

In 1959, Joseph Potenzano and Mary Elkind met for the first time. Their story began in Paramus, NJ, at the wedding of Joseph’s sister. Joseph was the best man, and Mary was the maid of honor. They went on a few dates after that because they liked each other so much. Their love didn’t last long, though. They went their separate ways in life, and things didn’t get better back then.

Joseph then became an engineer and worked at Picatinny Arsenal. Before she settled down with her late husband Mort Elkind, Mary tried to become a dancer and performed at Radio City Music Hall.

After turning 90 in 2020, Joseph began to feel lonely. He remembered Mary and chose to get back in touch with her. He asked her to coffee after a family event, which led to them going to an Irish dance show together. Over the next few months, their friendship turned into a beautiful relationship.

People were shocked when Joseph, who is 94 years old now, and Mary, who is 85 years old, said they were getting married in July 2023. While they were sitting on his couch, Joseph asked Mary to marry him, and she happily said yes. At first, Mary’s kids were a little confused because they thought Joseph might be related in some way. This was because they had been getting together with their families for 64 years.

Their wedding took place on October 15 at Our Lady of the Visitation Roman Catholic Church in Paramus, NJ. Close family and friends were there that day. When they look ahead, Joseph and Mary want to make the most of their time together. Mary will keep her condo in Chestnut Ridge, but she will spend most of her time with Joseph in Paramus. She loves being with him and is grateful for their second chance at love.

This sweet story shows that you can find love and happiness again even after being apart for a long time. The story of Joseph and Mary shows us how beautiful second chances are and how great it is to find love again after a long time. Don’t miss the stories of other famous people who gave their love a second chance.
