Joseph then became an engineer and worked at Picatinny Arsenal. Before she settled down with her late husband Mort Elkind, Mary tried to become a dancer and performed at Radio City Music Hall.

After turning 90 in 2020, Joseph began to feel lonely. He remembered Mary and chose to get back in touch with her. He asked her to coffee after a family event, which led to them going to an Irish dance show together. Over the next few months, their friendship turned into a beautiful relationship.

People were shocked when Joseph, who is 94 years old now, and Mary, who is 85 years old, said they were getting married in July 2023.
