Speaker Johnson Invites Trump To Address Congress During First 100 Days

House Speaker Mike Johnson has extended an invitation to President Donald Trump to address Congress on March 4 after he hit the ground running with rapid-fire orders and implementation of his agenda.

A letter to Trump from the Louisiana Republican, obtained by Fox News, says, “Thanks to your strong leadership and bold action in the first days of your presidency, the United States is already experiencing a resurgence of patriotism, unity, and hope for the future.”

“Your administration and the 119th Congress working together have the chance to make these next four years some of the most consequential in our nation’s history,” the speaker wrote.

“To that end, it is my distinct honor and great privilege to invite you to address a Joint Session of Congress on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, in the Chamber of the U.S. House of Representatives, to share your America First vision for our legislative future. I eagerly await your response,” he added.

The letter comes just ahead of Trump’s anticipated address to House Republicans at their annual issues conference and retreat, taking place this year in South Florida.

For three days, House GOP lawmakers will convene at Trump’s golf course and resort in Doral to outline a roadmap for government spending and plans for a significant conservative policy overhaul.

Trump had signaled for weeks before his inauguration that he was preparing for an exceptionally active first 100 days of his new administration. With Republicans holding control of the House, Senate, and White House, the party has a rare opportunity to implement its agenda.

However, with razor-thin majorities in both chambers, GOP lawmakers will need to maintain near-unanimous support to advance Trump’s plans, Fox noted.

One of Trump’s main agenda items is the mass deportation of migrants who are in the U.S. illegally, one of the pillars of his 2024 campaign.
