My MIL’s Wedding Gift Left Me Humiliated — I Asked Her to Leave Immediately

My MIL always deemed me worthless and never wanted me for her son. She didn’t like that I was from a much lower-class family than hers and that I came from a broken family with divorced parents. On my wedding day, I was surprised to see her smiling and making small talk with everyone.

At the end of the party, as we were opening gifts, she approached me, kissed me on the forehead, and whispered, ‘You’ll need these from now on. The room fell into silence before everyone gasped as I unwrapped her gift. I felt sick and my blood ran cold as I realized it was a stack of insulting books. They had titles like: ‘How to Marry Rich and Keep Him, ‘How to Make Your Marriage Work If You Had Bad Parents, and ‘How to Survive Your Husband’s Cheating!

I was so furious that I asked her to leave the party in front of all the guests. She just smirked and left, knowing that my most special day was forever ruined. My husband thinks that I should go easy on her and try to reconnect, but I can’t forgive her.
Am I overreacting? Abby
