My Fiancé’s Secret Christmas Plans Left Me Feeling Invisible

I (29F) have been engaged to my fiancé Mark (34M) for two years. We’ve had a good relationship, but Christmas revealed something unexpected. I was excited about our first Christmas together, especially since Mark has a daughter, Ella (6F), from his previous marriage. I’m childfree by choice but have bonded with Ella. I planned a Christmas Eve dinner for just the two of us before he spent Christmas Day with Ella.

A week before, Mark told me he’d spend Christmas with his ex-wife and Ella. He said it’s a tradition for Ella’s sake and assured me not to worry. I felt blindsided and hurt but stayed quiet. Then, on Christmas Eve, I overheard Mark’s phone conversation with his ex. He said they had planned for him to stay at her house on Christmas Eve and exchange gifts with Ella, without me. He admitted that Jen felt “weird” about me being around, so he didn’t tell me until the last minute to avoid a fight.

I was devastated. I left and went to my sister’s house. Mark has been blowing up my phone, claiming I ruined Christmas and accusing me of overreacting. Now, I’m questioning myself. Am I wrong for walking out?
