My son, Robert, has been dating a girl for six months. I only recently learned about her, and when he got engaged, I invited her to dinner to meet her. When she introduced herself, I froze in horror. I recognized her as someone I thought was a scammer. I immediately locked her in the basement and called the police.
It turned out she had been mistaken for the scammer before, and the police confirmed the mix-up. I apologized, but she was embarrassed and left in tears. Robert is furious with me and hasn’t spoken to me since. I regret my actions and don’t know how to fix this. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
