I’m 65 with one daughter, and her wedding was a big moment for me. I spent weeks searching for the perfect dress and finally found a navy gown that made me feel beautiful and confident. It was on sale, and non-refundable.

When I showed it to my daughter, expecting her excitement, she said, “Mom, where did you find it? My mother-in-law already has a navy dress. It’ll be weird.” I explained it was all I could afford, but she coldly replied, “If you wear it, don’t come to the wedding.” I feel disrespected and unsure if I should give in or stand my ground.

What should I do?
