The purse, lost outside of a Ralph’s in June 2022, reappeared on the owner’s doorstep shortly after, thanks to the young man’s integrity and sense of responsibility.

The teen, an Otay Ranch High School graduate, found the purse in a shopping cart and took it upon himself to locate the owner using the ID inside. Melina Marquez, the resident at the address on the license, was astonished by the unexpected delivery from the young man. She felt compelled to express her gratitude and launched a fundraiser to reward him.

The story quickly went viral, with the video of the teen returning the purse garnering widespread attention. Community members rallied to support him, donating over $1,115 as a token of appreciation for his selfless act.
