Once again Stephen Colbert began his show talking about Kate Middleton, but this time he backtracked on previous jokes he made about the princess. However, he stopped short of an apology.
Stephen Colbert dedicated another segment of his show to Kate Middleton, but this time, he addressed criticism for previous jokes he made about her.
Following his monologue discussing Kate’s absence from the public eye, Colbert faced backlash for implying Prince William had an affair. He mentioned rumors linking Kate’s absence to her husband’s alleged affair with Rose Hanbury. Hanbury’s lawyers disputed the claims, stating they were false and originated from Colbert’s show.
After Kate revealed her cancer diagnosis, Colbert expressed regret for his previous remarks, acknowledging they upset people. This apology coincided with Blake Lively’s apology for joking about Kate’s photoshopped Mother’s Day photo. Additionally, co-hosts of The View also expressed regret for engaging in speculation about Kate Middleton’s situation.
