Dolly Parton was raised in a shack with 14 children where she could only bathe once a week

Dolly Parton, the iconic 77-year-old singer, has captivated audiences for decades with her positivity, talent, and philanthropy.

Despite her current superstar status, Parton’s journey began in a one-bedroom cabin in Sevierville, Tennessee, with 11 siblings and humble surroundings.

Born to a sharecropper father who couldn’t read or write, and a mother who instilled a love for music, Parton’s upbringing was challenging. Growing up with limited resources, the family shared one bedroom and lacked electricity and running water. Parton fondly remembers the chaos and laughter of her large family, stating, “We were poor but I never felt poor.”
Facing difficulties like bathing once a week, Parton’s resilience and love for her family motivated her to overcome challenges. Despite adversity, she embraced her rural childhood, cherishing the best moments. Reflecting on her upbringing, she said, “Of course, not everything was perfect, but I prefer to remember the best of times.”

Parton’s commitment to helping those in need stems from her humble beginnings. With a net worth of $375 million, she donates generously to various causes, emphasizing, “My family will always be my greatest love.” Parton’s remarkable journey from a shack in Tennessee to international stardom showcases her unwavering spirit and commitment to making a positive impact on the world.
