Our parents often invite my sister and me over for holidays or weekends. I have chronic back pain and can’t sleep on the couch because I wake up in terrible pain.
I was planning to spend a week at my parents’ house, and we agreed that I wouldn’t sleep on the couch. My pregnant sister decided to stay for a few days, and I told her I wouldn’t give up the bed. She had to sleep on the couch, and the next morning, she woke up swollen with a stiff neck and shoulders.
My parents blamed me for her discomfort, but I said it happened because she’s
pregnant, not because of the couch. They called me inconsiderate and told me I should give up the bed next time. I don’t want to!
