“The Day Everything Went Missing”
… the car was gone.
For a moment, I thought I was in a bad dream. We ran to the spot, only to find shattered glass scattered on the ground. The purse, the keys—everything was gone. My friend immediately called the police while I stood there frozen, replaying every decision that had led to this disaster.
An hour later, we got a call from the cops. They found the car abandoned in a parking lot—thankfully intact. The thief hadn’t gone far, probably because my purse contained nothing but gum and old receipts.
Lesson learned: never underestimate the value of carrying a properly empty purse.
