My husband married me for the money, but he got what was coming to him when my famously wealthy dad died.

When we marry someone, we expect them to be there for us when we’re poor and when we’re rich. But it doesn’t always go as planned, and when a family is having a hard time, one partner may show their real self. This is what happened to our heroine today—a woman—when she found out that her husband was going to take all of her money and become a millionaire for no reason. But things went differently, and he was left with nothing in his hands.

A woman wrote us a letter to tell us a very important family story.

Laura, who is 39 years old, began her letter by giving some background information. She said that her father had recently died. Because she had such a close bond with her dad, she’s still sad about his death. While he was only 20, Laura’s mother died, leaving him without a wife. He raised her by himself.

She told Laura that her dad was a very successful lawyer. A well-known public figure, he was in a lot of different types of media. He won many cases that other lawyers, even the most experienced ones, thought were hopeless. It was all because of his skill. They called him “a wizard” and “a genius” because he was a professional and many people learned from him.

Since Laura’s dad had such a great gift, it makes sense that he was very rich. He owned several very large law firms, a lot of property, and many cars. His net worth was almost a billion dollars.

Laura’s dad taught her a unique way to deal with money and wealth.

Since he was a single parent, Laura’s dad tried to teach his daughter his strong morals. One of these things was how people felt about money. Laura said that he taught her to be humble and thrifty, and even though they had everything they could want, she would never brag about how lucky she was.

The woman said, “I went to a regular school and then to law school, but my dad didn’t get in the way of either.” He wouldn’t even help me study for my entrance exams; he told me I had to do things the same way he did, starting at the bottom and working my way up.

Because of this, her dad was very proud of her when she graduated with honors and got a job at a small law firm. He said the same thing when he turned her down for a job at one of his big companies: she had to work hard for herself.

Laura also said, “Even though my dad is famous, I’ve never been in the news with him.” It was very clear that his reputation and skills were only good for him and not for me. And I never said anything. I knew why he was acting that way. He wanted to make sure that my future would depend on me alone, not on him and his money after he died.

Laura’s dad didn’t like her boyfriend, but he didn’t get in the way.

When Laura started dating Max, a guy she met in college, her dad had a lot of doubts about the young man. He asked Max a lot of questions when they first met, and Max didn’t pass his “personal check.”

“Dad would always tell me that Max was a lazy, spoiled kid who knew him from the first time they met and wanted his fame and money,” Laura remembers. But I thought that was just my dad being too protective of me. I liked that, but I never really paid attention to what he was saying about Max.

On the other hand, Max has never brought up money when he was talking to Laura, which made her even more sure that he had good intentions. They got married one year before her dad died. Plus, they both seemed to be very happy at work and in their personal lives, because they were both enjoying their jobs.

Things took a shocking turn right after Laura’s father died.

While Laura’s dad was dying, the woman was very sad. When she thought back, Max’s behavior at that time was just strange. The woman wrote, “Max didn’t try to comfort me or help me through my never-ending grief.” Right away, he asked me about my family history and how much I would get when my dad died.

When this question came up, it shocked her, but then she remembered what her dad had said about Max: that he was only with her for her dad’s money.

“When he asked me about inheritance, I looked very surprised and asked, ‘What do you mean by heritage?’” the woman said. I’m not even in my dad’s will, so he’s not giving me any money.

Max thought she was joking or too stressed out from her dad’s funeral to understand what she was saying. She told her, “My dad isn’t giving me anything because I’m not his biological daughter.” My dad raised me as his own, but he was never going to put me in his will, and I knew that my whole life. I was adopted a year before my mom died.

Max left right away when he heard Laura’s “bad news.”

Laura goes on with her story and says that Max filed for divorce a month after he learned that her dad wasn’t giving her anything. After they split up, Laura set up a meeting with him in front of a family friend who used to be her dad’s partner.

They ate dinner together and the dad’s partner showed Max Laura’s dad’s will. It said that Max would get half of his wealth if he didn’t divorce Laura within 5 years of his death. Laura would get the other half. Laura will get most of his money and property if they get a divorce.

At the end of her letter, the woman said, “It gave me great pleasure to watch my ex’s face turn pale, then red, and then pale again.” He was moving his mouth back and forth like a fish that had been thrown out of water and couldn’t say anything. My dad could finally rest easy knowing that I’m okay without that “lazy, spoiled kid” in my life. I felt like his plan had been fully carried out.
