To persuade me not to divorce him, my husband acts as though he’s flawless.

Everyone gets into fights every once in a while. There will be times when things go wrong in a relationship. But sometimes those disagreements are more than just a problem. The husband of our reader wants her to stay married, but she doesn’t want to change her mind. It’s not easy for her.

A woman sent us a message online:

“I’ve been married to my husband for 4 years. In the past, we had some big fights and even went to therapy together. It helped for a while, but we ended up with new problems anyway.

There are mean jokes my husband tells me that I don’t like. He also talks badly about me in front of his friends. Sometime, I chose not to spend the rest of my life with him, so I told him I wanted to end our marriage.

He changed right away. The things I didn’t like about him stopped. He now cleans and cooks for us and gives me flowers every day. Because he’s a “perfect husband,” my family and friends don’t get why I want to get a divorce.

They don’t think he’s really bad enough to do bad things. They now say it was my fault that I ruined their “perfect” marriage. What do I do?”
