Dog Goes to Closed Store Daily then Leaves, One Evening Poor Boy Notices and Follows It — Story of the Day

18-year-old Adam had always been the kind to notice life’s little details—especially when it came to animals. Working at the local market, he often saw a scruffy terrier named Rufus visiting the same abandoned bike shop day after day. Unlike other strays, Rufus was clean, friendly, and seemed to be waiting for someone.

Curious, Adam started watching him more closely and eventually followed the dog, puzzled by how Rufus would grab Adam’s lunch and dart off to an old house. What troubled Adam most was that Rufus never seemed to eat the food himself. Something didn’t add up. So one evening, as the sky darkened and Rufus resumed his routine, Adam decided to follow him one more time—and what he discovered would leave him speechless.

The trail led Adam to a house at the edge of town, where Rufus squeezed under a fence and revealed his secret: inside, a weak German Shepherd was barking desperately—Rufus had been feeding his trapped friend all along. Adam immediately called the police, who broke into the abandoned home and rescued the dog, Max.
