Would It Be Advisable For Me To Regret Destroying My Child’s Wedding?

As a mother, it’s tough to watch your child make choices that hurt others. My son, Mike, was once a loving spouse and father, but after the birth of my grandson, Tommy, who has Down syndrome, everything changed. Mike left Jane, his wife, and abandoned Tommy. Despite being close to them both, I couldn’t understand why he turned his back on his family.

Mike remarried, and I wasn’t even invited to the wedding. It was then that my nephew, Liam, told me Mike was getting married again. I knew nothing about his life now, only that he had found another young woman to marry. Feeling anger for how he treated Jane and Tommy, I decided I would attend the wedding, even though I wasn’t invited.

At the ceremony, I approached Mike, holding Tommy in my arms, and confronted him in front of everyone. I reminded him of the family he abandoned and the child who deserved a father. I told his bride what she was getting into, exposing the truth about Mike’s past—how he had left Jane and Tommy without help or support. The room was filled with stunned silence.

The next day, I heard from Liam that Mike’s bride had stormed out of the wedding, leaving him humiliated. I know my actions were extreme, but I wanted to teach Mike a lesson. Now, I’m open to him reconciling with our family, but only if he steps up as a father to Tommy.
