The letter was written by a 63-year-old woman who told us about her very painful life. The woman is feeling very upset about her son cheating on his wife and having affairs with several other women, as well as her pregnant daughter-in-law. Being honest with his mom about this bad secret has made her feel torn, and she doesn’t know what to do.
A 63-year-old woman who wanted to remain anonymous wrote a letter not long ago. We were only told to print her letter and ask other people what they thought about her very difficult life situation.
“Hello, I’m pretty new to writing letters online, but I really need advice and help in my very painful situation,” the woman began her letter. I need help badly and don’t know what to do with my life right now.
“My son, 30, has been married to his high school sweetheart, Olivia, for 5 years now,” the woman said. My son’s birthday was two weeks ago. He went to a nice resort out of state with some college friends. Due to the high risk of giving birth to twins, my daughter-in-law Olivia chose to stay in the state where she lives.
Olivia told my son to go have fun, but I told him to cancel the trip and stay with his wife. Which is why I asked her to stay with me so she could stay in bed. After some pushing, she finally said yes.
The relationship between the MIL and the DIL is great.
“Now, I love my DIL Olivia,” the woman says to continue her story. She is very nice and respectful, and I feel like she’s my daughter. Since her parents were not good at all, it was easy for us to get along when she was dating my son. Every day, we talk and see each other a lot.
The mother was the first to notice that her son was acting strangely. “After my son got home from his trip, I could tell something was off,” she wrote. He wouldn’t eat any of the treats I gave him, and he wouldn’t even kiss Olivia. Instead, he was giving her awkward hugs and being very careful all around.
I was worried about how he was acting because I didn’t like how he treated his wife. I asked him over and over why he was acting so strange, but he did not answer. He then left with Olivia.
It hurt the woman very much to say what she did.
She goes on to say, “Later, Olivia would tell me more about my son’s strange behavior.” He moved into the guest bedroom and refused to eat any of her food. He also grew distant and wouldn’t even hug her. When I talked to my son about it, he would either give me a one-word answer or completely ignore me.
The woman’s son then came up to her and told her a shocking truth. “Not long ago, my son came home crying,” the woman said. He had a folder in his hand that was full of clearly crumpled papers. Once I was able to calm him down a bit, he told me that he cheated on Olivia with many women before and during his birthday trip.
Even worse was the fact that he was found to have HIV. I had nothing to say. I asked him why he was telling me about his affairs and that he was going to have twins instead of his wife, who was pregnant. He then begged me not to tell her anything and to let him stay with me while he thought about what to do next.
After her son told her the truth, the woman is in a terrible situation.
“I told him I would tell his wife if he didn’t happen,” the woman wrote. This made him very angry, and he started crying and yelling, “I’m going to break up his family before it even starts because I won’t let him have any fun or make his own decisions in life.”
“He said I liked Olivia more than him and wanted to keep him away from his kids,” I even had to ask a neighbor I’m friendly with to help me get my son out of the house. Even stranger, I looked at the papers he brought after he left and saw that they were not medical records but bank statements. I really don’t know what to do now.
It’s all confusing to me, and I don’t want to hurt anyone. I feel bad telling Olivia because it might hurt her and her twins. My son might be right, so please help me find a way to do this with as little harm as possible to my family.
