Shop Owner Hangs Controversial Sign In Store Window, Outrage Ensues. See it below!

A shop owner in New Jersey, Jim Boggess of Jimbo’s Deli, hung a sign in his store window declaring March as “White History Month” to celebrate his heritage.

However, the sign sparked outrage in the community, with some labeling it as racist. Boggess defended the sign, stating that everyone should be proud of their heritage, regardless of race or religion. Despite this, he faced backlash, with some accusing him of racism.

One former customer, Bhakti Curtis, who is biracial, found the sign offensive and filed a complaint with the Flemington police. However, the police determined that the sign was not derogatory or racist. Curtis expressed concerns about the impact of such signs on the community, emphasizing the need for inclusivity and respect for all individuals.

After the controversy, Boggess removed the sign and apologized to Curtis, who accepted the apology. Both parties were surprised by the intense and hostile responses to the incident. Despite receiving support from some, Boggess ultimately had to close his deli due to the fallout from the controversy.

The incident highlights the risks businesses face when making political statements and raises questions about the necessity of designated heritage months. The community remains divided on the issue, with differing opinions on the appropriateness of such declarations.
