The hits just keep coming for the Democratic Party following Vice President Kamala Harris’ historic loss to now-President-elect Donald Trump.
Following the November 5 election, in which the Democratic candidate spent over $1 billion and ultimately lost, the Democratic National Committee (DNC) laid off hundreds of employees, according to the left-leaning outlet Mother Jones.
The union representing DNC staff has launched a GoFundMe campaign to support workers who were abruptly laid off last week, sparking backlash from remaining employees who have called the cuts a “betrayal” of the party’s values, Fox News noted.
The GoFundMe campaign, initiated by the DNC union, aims to raise $25,000 to assist staff members affected by the layoffs following the party’s losses in the 2024 election.
According to the union’s fundraising page, the layoffs impacted two-thirds of the DNC staff, many of whom were let go with little notice and “no severance.” The abrupt nature of the cuts has drawn criticism from within the organization.
